In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to evidence usa how to stop trying to be 'positive' all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people.

For decades, we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. 'F**k positivity,' Mark Manson says. 'Let's be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it.' In his wildly popular Cyberspace blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it similar it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antitoxin to the coddling, let'south-all-feel-good mindset that has infected modern gild and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals merely for showing upwardly.

Manson makes the argument, backed both by bookish enquiry and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, just on learning to stomach lemons improve. Human beings are flawed and express—'not everybody tin be boggling, there are winners and losers in society, and some of information technology is non fair or your fault.' Manson advises u.s.a. to get to know our limitations and accept them. Once we embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, once nosotros finish running and fugitive and get-go against painful truths, we can begin to observe the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek.

There are only and then many things we can requite a f**m almost then we need to figure out which ones actually matter, Manson makes clear. While money is nice, caring about what you do with your life is better, because true wealth is about experience. A much-needed grab-you-past-the-shoulders-and-await-you-in-the-eye moment of existent-talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humour, The Subtle Fine art of Not Giving a F**g is a refreshing slap for a generation to help them lead contented, grounded lives.

I thought this was a horrible book. Turned information technology off.

This is very much style (and a super promising title) over substance. It may comport 15 mins of core wisdoms, ruthlessly drawn out with anecdotal stories ... Stories that failed to connect me to the author in any way and that and led me to the conclusion that they might well exist a life-long narcissist (of one kind or some other). Readers of self aid-books might easily exist dismissed as beingness unreliable, skewed, or perhaps over-needy. But pseudo wisdom has a certain unmistakable smell and this is a pungent read ...

I had to end listening because I felt like I was listening to some random jock at a bar improvise a lecture on life lessons every bit opposed to someone with intelligence, wisdom, and pity speaking. Yes, it'south obvious that anyone tin write a self-assist book, but I wouldn't recommend this i. Much preferred Gary Bishop'southward "Unf*ck Yourself."

Offers a harsh but accurate perspective that I think many need to hear. Including myself.

Yes, as the title suggests, Fuck will be said often. Get over it and listen to the message. And, merely do.
